Paunit Terms of Service

Last updated: October 7, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between Utopian Creations LLC ("Utopian Creations," "we," "us," or "our") and you. They cover your use of Paunit, including the web back office at https://paunit.com, the Paunit mobile apps, and related support (together, the "Service").

  • If you accept these Terms for a business, you confirm that you are authorized to bind that business, and "Customer" means that business.
  • If you use Paunit as a member of a Customer's team, you agree to these Terms for your own use of the Service.

By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Paunit does

Paunit helps businesses check a device's lock and management status when they take it in ("intake"). It guides staff through photographing the device's Settings screens. It uses AI to read those screens and saves each intake as a record for the business. Paunit supports checks such as Find My and Activation Lock, Google account and Factory Reset Protection, and device-management (MDM) enrollment on supported devices.

Paunit never bypasses, removes, or disables any lock or management profile. It only reads and records what the device's screens show.

2. Eligibility

You may use the Service only if:

  • the Customer is a business operating lawfully in the United States, holding any licenses required for its business (such as a pawn or secondhand-dealer license);
  • you are at least 18 years old and authorized by the Customer to use the Service;
  • you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated by the U.S. government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties; and
  • you give accurate business information when you sign up and keep it current.

We may verify a business before or after giving it access and may decline or end access if we can't verify it.

3. Accounts, organizations, and roles

  • Sign-in. You sign in with Google or, on iPhone, with Apple. Keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us right away at support@paunit.com if you think someone has used your account without permission.
  • Organizations. Each Customer has an organization ("org") in Paunit. A user belongs to one org at a time.
  • Roles. Owners and managers can invite team members, manage roles and locations, review intakes, and manage billing. Operators perform intakes. The Customer is responsible for who it invites, the roles it assigns, and its team's use of the Service.
  • Invitations. Invitations are tied to an email address. A team member must sign in with that exact email address (including an Apple private relay address, if they use one) to join.
  • Personal accounts only. Don't share sign-ins between people.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful device intake. You will:

  • use Paunit only on devices that a customer presents to your business for sale, pawn, trade-in, or repair intake;
  • tell your customers that you will photograph their device's screens and that the photos will be processed by service providers, including AI providers, and get any consent the law requires;
  • photograph only the screens the Paunit steps ask for, not messages, photos, or other personal content; and
  • follow all laws that apply to you, including pawn and secondhand-dealer reporting, hold, and record-keeping laws, and privacy laws.

You will not:

  • use or try to use the Service to bypass, remove, disable, or get around any lock, account, or management profile;
  • use the Service to help buy, sell, or move stolen or fraudulently obtained property;
  • copy, resell, sublicense, or give others access to the Service, or share API keys or credentials;
  • reverse engineer, scrape, overload, probe, or interfere with the Service or its security, except as the law allows;
  • upload unlawful content or content you have no right to upload; or
  • use the Service to build a competing product.

5. Verification results: important limits

Please read this section carefully.

  • Results reflect a moment in time. A Paunit result reflects only what the device's screens showed at the time of the check. Paunit does not check carrier, lost-or-stolen, or other third-party databases. A device's status can change afterward, for example if the owner turns Find My back on, signs in to an account again, or a management profile is pushed.
  • Results can be incomplete or wrong. AI can misread a screen. A screen can be staged or altered.
  • Not a guarantee. "No problems found" means only that Paunit did not detect a problem in the screens it checked. It is not a guarantee, warranty, or statement by us that a device is unlocked, not stolen, not financed, free of claims, or lawfully owned by the person offering it. "Check incomplete" means Paunit could not finish all checks.
  • Your decision. Your business alone decides whether to accept, buy, lend against, or pay for a device, and on what terms. Use Paunit alongside your own procedures, identification checks, and legal duties.
  • No affiliation. Paunit and Utopian Creations are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple, Google, Samsung, or any carrier. Apple, iPhone, Find My, Google, Android, Samsung, and other names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to describe what Paunit checks.

6. Your data

  • Ownership. As between the Customer and us, the Customer owns the intake records, photos, and other content its team submits ("Customer Data").
  • Our license. The Customer gives us permission to host, copy, process, transmit, and display Customer Data as needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not use device photos to train AI models, and we do not sell Customer Data.
  • Your responsibilities. The Customer is responsible for the lawfulness of Customer Data, for its notices to and consents from its own customers, and for keeping any records the law requires it to keep.
  • Retention and deletion. We keep and delete data as described in our Privacy Policy. Device photos are deleted automatically 180 days after they are taken, and intake records are deleted automatically 7 years after the date of the intake, so keep your own copies if the law requires you to keep them longer.

7. Plans, credits, and payment (web)

When paid plans and credit packs are offered, the Customer purchases them on the Paunit website, and payments are processed by Stripe. Current prices are shown in the Service at the time of purchase.

  • Credits. One credit covers one device intake, whatever the result. Once an intake has started and its credit is used, finishing that intake does not use another credit.
  • Free trial. New organizations may receive a limited number of free intakes. We may change or end trials.
  • Credit packs. Credit packs are one-time purchases. Purchased credits remain available for at least 12 months after purchase.
  • Subscriptions. Subscriptions include a monthly number of intakes, are billed in advance each month, and renew automatically until canceled. You can cancel at any time in the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. If your plan lists an overage rate, intakes beyond your included amount may be billed at that rate.
  • Order of use. Intakes use free-trial intakes first, then subscription intakes, then purchased credits.
  • Refunds. Fees are non-refundable, and used credits are not refunded, except where the law requires otherwise.
  • Changes and taxes. We may change prices for future billing periods after giving notice. The Customer is responsible for applicable taxes.
  • Non-payment. We may suspend paid features if a payment fails.

8. Mobile apps and app stores

The Paunit mobile apps are free to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play. The apps do not offer in-app purchases. Your organization's plan and credits are managed in the Paunit back office. Your use of an app is also subject to the terms of the store you downloaded it from.

Additional terms for apps downloaded from the Apple App Store:

  1. These Terms are between you and Utopian Creations only, not Apple. Utopian Creations, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
  2. Your license to use the app is limited to a non-transferable license to use it on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  3. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  4. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app. To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses caused by a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent these Terms do not disclaim them.
  5. Utopian Creations, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection, privacy, or similar laws.
  6. If a third party claims that the app or your use of it infringes its intellectual property rights, Utopian Creations, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and discharging the claim.
  7. You confirm that you meet the embargo and restricted-party conditions in Section 2.
  8. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the app, such as your wireless data service agreement.
  9. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept these Terms, Apple has the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Questions, complaints, or claims about the app should be sent to us at support@paunit.com.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, such as cloud hosting, AI vision providers, and payment processing. They are listed in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for services we don't control.

10. Our intellectual property and feedback

We and our licensors own the Service, including its software, design, and trademarks. Subject to these Terms, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for the Customer's internal business purposes. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

11. Suspension and termination

  • By you. You may stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account in the mobile app (Settings > Delete account), at https://paunit.com/delete-account, or by emailing privacy@paunit.com.
  • By us. We may suspend or end access to the Service if you break these Terms, if we suspect fraud or unlawful use, if payment fails, or if we must do so to comply with the law or protect the Service or others. When it is reasonable to do so, we will give notice first.
  • Effect. When access ends, your right to use the Service ends. We handle data as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections 5, 6, 9, 10, and 12 through 16 survive.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY RESULT WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS:

  • WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, INVENTORY, OR DATA, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE. THIS INCLUDES LOSSES FROM ACCEPTING, BUYING, OR LENDING AGAINST A DEVICE, AND LOSSES FROM A DEVICE'S STATUS CHANGING AFTER A CHECK.
  • OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT THE CUSTOMER PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you in full.

14. Indemnification

The Customer will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Utopian Creations and its members, employees, and agents from third-party claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: the Customer's decisions to accept, buy, lend against, or sell devices; Customer Data, including the Customer's notices to and consents from its customers; or the Customer's or its team's violation of these Terms or the law.

15. Governing law and disputes

  • Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
  • Informal resolution first. Before filing a claim, you agree to email support@paunit.com with a description of the dispute and to try to resolve it with us for at least 30 days.
  • Courts. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be decided only in the state or federal courts located in San Mateo County, California, and both parties consent to those courts' exclusive jurisdiction and venue. Either party may ask any court for an order to stop misuse of its intellectual property or of the Service.

16. General

  • Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version at https://paunit.com/terms and change the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we will give notice in the Service or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any order or plan terms shown at purchase are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Severability and waiver. If part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver.
  • Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as outages at third-party providers.
  • Notices. We may send notices to the email address on your account or in the Service. You can send notices to support@paunit.com or by mail to Utopian Creations LLC, 850 Campus Drive #103, Daly City, CA 94015.
